Milky Way over the Bodie Firehouse, by former student Marcy Pinetti

Hone your craft in Night Photography with me this summer at the incredible Bodie State Historic Park in eastern California.

In this special small-group workshop, the size is limited to 8 students, and we have the ENTIRE park to ourselves from 6PM to 12 midnight. This means we will also get to shoot the sunset before night falls, AFTER the park is closed to the public.

We have the park to ourselves, and can shoot Bodie's incredible building exteriors juxtaposed against the gorgeous dark, starry skies of the Eastern Sierra. I will lead the group past many of Bodie's incredible landmarks, with instruction on the basics of landscape astrophotography. A guide from the Bodie Foundation will accompany our group to interpret the history of the park and it's landmarks.

The fee for the Bodie workshop on either date is $500/person. The workshop is team-taught by myself and Mike Okimoto, a Reno-based commercial and landscape photographer who is a frequent colleague and teaching partner of mine.

The class is limited to 8 students, so there is at worst a 4/1 instructor-student ratio if the class fills up. The fee includes light snacks and drinks between sunset and nightfall, and portions of the fee go directly to Bodie for permits. As you know, the park normally closes at sunset, so my workshops are operating under a special permit from the Bodie Foundation and CA State Parks, which includes a chaperone park ranger who will be with our group to interpret any questions anyone may have about the site.  It really is quote a special experience to be in the park at night!

Please email me or call 530-386-6492 ASAP about this if you are interested and I will add your name to the roster, these classes will fill up quickly due to the small group size.
